Woodburn Main Street Presents

WOODBURN DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT WEEK

Indiana’s Office of Community and Rural Affairs has declared October 8th thru October 13th Downtown Development Week. In 2012 Woodburn became an Indiana Main Street under OCRA’s administration. Much of the funding for Woodburn’s improved Streetscape was made possible through an OCRA grant.

To help celebrate our downtown, the Woodburn Partnership for Downtown Revitalization, commonly known as Woodburn Main Street, is hosting three activities during this week.

Monday October 8th —WANDER WOODBURN WALK

We will kick off the week with Mayor Kelsey’s official Downtown Development Week proclamation. Tours of various downtown businesses will commence at the Woodburn Clock Tower Plaza at 1:00 pm. The tour will end at Bob’s Restaurant for refreshments.

Monday October 8 – 12  — FREAKY PUMPKIN FRENZY

Participating Woodburn businesses will be decorating a pumpkin. Click here for a list of these businesses. As you visit these businesses, cast your vote for the best decorated pumpkin.
Voting runs from Monday, October 8th to Friday the 12th at 3:00. Prizes will be awarded, and winners will be announced at noon on Saturday at the Kid’s Pumpkin Contest.

Saturday, October 13th @ 11:00 am — KIDS PUMPKIN CONTEST

Kindergarten thru 6th grades and 7th thru high school are invited to bring their decorated pumpkin to the Woodburn Clock Tower Plaza. Enjoy local entertainment by Indiana Wild. Judging will take place at noon by Woodburn City Council members. Hot dogs – chips – drink will be furnished.

Additional events that are being hosted by Woodburn Main Street:

2018 Euchre Tournament

A visitor will notice the sidewalks, street lamps, blooming trees and flowers down Woodburn’s Main Street. This was all possible from a grant from Indiana’s Main Street program and many volunteer hours by its citizens. Those volunteers have also spent many hours helping coordinate our Woodburn Park Plaza honoring a prominent family.

There are still streets that need revitalization and in order to have that happen, the committee is in need of more volunteers, especially our younger citizens who can bring new ideas to the table. We meet on the first Thursday of the month at 6:00 pm at the Community Center. For more information call Sandy Heckley at 260-632-5215.
