Woodburn Boy Scout Troop 323

Harold Gerig, Scoutmaster

Woodburn Boy Scout Troop 323 meets every Tuesday evening from 6:30-7:30 PM at Woodburn United Methodist Church on Becker Rd.(behind the Main Street Oasis). Weekly meetings are held during the school year. Troop 323 was formed in 2001 and has produced three Eagle Scouts since its formation. Over the years the troop has done many community service projects including food drives, helping during the Woodburn Community Festivals, and collecting coats, hats and scarves for the homeless. The troop has traveled to Buffalo, N.Y., to see Niagara Falls and spent the night on a guide missile cruiser. A week of summer camp at Camp Chief Little Turtle near Pleasant Lake is a yearly tradition where scouts can earn merit badges and have lots of fun. This summer the troop will compete in a catapult contest at camp. Catapults must be lashed together from native materials and the catapult that throws a gallon milk jug full of water the farthest wins. Scoutmaster Harold Gerig and Assistant Scoutmaster Richard Hall lead the troop. Any boy of at least 11 years of age is welcome to join.
